Motivating the mediocre: Getting the maximum out of someone who's giving you the minimum disruptive or incompetent employees need to be dealt with. Allowing mediocre employees in health care will continue to effect the organizations performance.  How an organization identifies mediocrity, more specifically high performance and hires for performance is critical in the development of organizational success. This article is a review from an April 2008 AM News article.

Church Marketing

For some congregations, church marketing is looked down upon severely. However, church marketing can be a way of the church staying afloat in the down market that we are all experiencing. For the smaller churches that have a congregation of less than 50, church marketing could bring new parishioners and help increase the donations and funding for the church. It would be sad for your church to be shut down during the downturned economy because you simply did not want to get the word out about it.

What's Happening In Our World Today?

My philosophy has always been that it's vitally important that everyone should maintain a positive attitude in everything they do or whatever happens to them in their daily lives.

But it sure seems to get more and more difficult everyday to make it happen. I guess it's because I'm very concerned about what's happening in our world today and how it is negatively affecting all our lives. I cannot understand why we have let conditions deteriorate as much as we have.

Windows vs. Mac: Which is Better for Real Estate?

I get asked this question a lot:

Should I run my real estate business on a Windows computer or on a Mac?

You can find a lot of real estate forums and mailing lists where this exact argument drones on and on for days and days. And both sides can get really, really heated about their opinions. It's almost like they have a personal stake in the battle.

Maya Indians

The Maya Indian Civilization flourished from 250AD to 900AD; this is known as history's Classic Period; there were as many as one-million Maya Indians in Belize.

Between the Classic Period and Post-Classic Period the Maya Empire split into separate conflicting "City States," just like the Roman Empire, lasting until the Spanish Colonial Period in the early 1600's. Though not known why, there are many different reasons this split could have happened, such as, over population, a revolt, disease or drought. However, there is evidence that there was over population.

Phantom Job Postings (Why Many Jobs You See Aren't Real)

Why would recruiters post listings for jobs that don't exist? Why would companies list job openings, bring in interviewees, go far in the hiring process, and extend offers, only to put positions on hold and sometimes close the positions? In other words, why are there job postings for which there don't seem to be actual jobs?

Does Marketing Create or Satisfy Needs?

Marketing has often been defined in terms of satisfying needs and wants of the customer. Critics maintain this goes beyond creating needs and wants which did not previously exist, encouraging consumers to spend more on product or services they do not need. (Kotler & Keller, 2009)

A Day in the Life of a High School Teacher

Unlike elementary teachers, a high school teacher must "face" a new set of students in every period. In my case, that means approximately 150 teens over the six periods. Another difficulty that must be surmounted is the various levels, freshmen or sophomores, and the different types of classes, for example U.S. History and World History. We realize however that department heads cannot always accommodate the wishes and/or specialties for every teacher. We are, after all, certified by the state to carry out the instruction in our respective fields, whether it is Social Studies, Math, Science or Language Arts, the four core areas of the curriculum (of course, electives are just as important, but, as we know, most public schools must show progress annually in the state testing).

Why Recruiters Don't Want Qualified Candidates

Years ago I worked with a candidate named Wes. He was a living, breathing example of what all candidates should be like. Back then I was a contingent recruiter, meaning I only got paid my fee when a company hired the candidate, Wes was the candidate all contingent recruiters look for. As we say in the industry, "When he goes out for an interview just give him the invoice to hand to the company." Or in other words, Wes was a walking placement.
